22nd International Symposium on Radiopharmaceutical Sciences
May 14 – 19, 2017 | Dresden | Germany
The nomenclature guidelines were set up by an internationally composed working group (WG) on ‘Nomenclature’ in Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry and related areas, which was triggered by the 'Drug Development Committee' of the 'European Association of Nuclear Medicine' (EANM). The WG consisted altogether of 12 colleagues from around the globe, representing a host of relevant scientific societies; besides the EANM, the ‘Society of Radiopharmaceutical Sciences’, the ‘Society of Nuclear Medicine’, the ‘Society of Radiopharmacology’, and many national societies. The goal of the WG was to set up recommendations and regulations for utilisation of a uniform and standardised nomenclature with defined terms and units, in order to counteract a notable increase in perfunctory and erroneous terminology use over recent years. Many colloquial terms commonly used in publications, presentations and posters are often contrary to IUPAC-rules. Since our scientific nomenclature must be based on internationally agreed conventions, close interactions and dialogue with IUPAC will be a necessity.
Information on further details about the nomenclature initiative and members of the working group are found on the SRS website.
You need to confirm that you have read the nomenclature guidelines.
